Why Meghan Markle"s wedding reception poem brought guests to tears.

In the days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s wedding, there were a number of reports about the couple’s reception. Both Prince Harry and his brother Prince William were said to have made particularly moving speeches, as did their father, Prince Charles.

But while it was understood in advance that Meghan Markle would speak at the event, making her the first royal bride to officially address her wedding guests, we haven’t heard the details of the 36-year-old’s speech. Until now.

According to The Sunthe actress read an “emotional poem” about her “intense love” for Prince Harry.

Speaking to the publication, one guest said, “Meghan totally stole the show”.

“She read her poem like the professional actress she is.”

The guest added that most of the room was “misty-eyed by the final line,” with Harry having to “wipe away a tear”.

“She spoke about their first date and falling in love at first sight,” the guest said.

“Meghan said she knew she had met her prince from the off and how blessed and lucky she feels to have found such a profound love.”

The Duchess of Sussex gave her speech during the less formal part of her wedding day – at Frogmore House with the couple’s 200 closest family and friends.

The reception also saw Elton John perform, and James Corden MC.
